Shelby Newcomb

Shelby Newcomb is the Executive Legal Assistant for The Irving Law Firm, supporting the Managing Partner and the Civil/Business team. At the heart of Shelby’s work are values of integrity, empathy, and continuous improvement. She takes pride in being someone others can count on, whether that means organizing complex projects, streamlining processes, or supporting clients through important moments. Shelby believes that when people feel supported and systems run smoothly, everyone performs better, and she brings that mindset into everything she does.
Shelby brings a blend of operational, project management, and people-centered experience to the firm. Before joining our firm, Shelby grew up in Virginia and graduated from James Madison University in 2016 with her BA degree in History, and from Johns Hopkins University in 2020 with her Master’s in Education. Shelby spent several years in education as a Special Educator and Case Manager, where she led complex projects, coordinated cross-functional teams, and implemented data-driven systems to improve outcomes. After having her son, she decided to switch careers and earned her Project Management Professional certificate in 2025.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, toddler, two dogs, traveling, and enjoying great food and coffee.
