Brendan Kelly

Brendan Kelly serves as an Associate Attorney for our Criminal Team at The Irving Law Firm.
A Northern Virginia native, Brendan earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 2012 from the University of Mary Washington. After graduation, he taught English overseas in Madrid, Spain, and then as a volunteer with the Peace Corps in Rwanda. While in Rwanda, he also worked alongside Save The Children at the Mahama Refugee Camp, where he taught English to the Burundian refugees.
After his time abroad, Brendan returned to the States and obtained his law degree from George Mason in 2022. As a law student, Brendan continued to serve under-resourced communities. In the summer of 2020, Brendan worked with Colorado Legal Services as an Equal Justice Works Fellow protecting the rights of migrant farm workers. In 2021, he participated in George Mason Law School’s Poverty Law Clinic. Brendan also dedicated much of his time to the school’s trial advocacy association and was elected president of the association during his third year.
After law school, Brendan continued to pursue his passion for serving underrepresented communities. He joined the Fredericksburg Public Defenders Office, where he tirelessly advocated for his clients over the next three years. In his spare time, Brendan also volunteers as a judge for trial advocacy competitions held at his law school alma mater, George Mason University.
When Brendan is not working, he enjoys reading, working out, and spending time with his dog, Lana.
