Ms. Welch has successfully earned a reputation throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and in the United States District Court as an outstanding advocate for her clients. Recognizing that no two cases are alike, she takes pride in working one-on-one with her clients to achieve the best possible result for their particular legal issues. She is passionate about her client’s rights and takes the time to investigate the evidence in each case. Her goal is to give each and every client the personal attention and energy they deserve to achieve a positive outcome for their case.
She graduated from New York Law School in 2007. During her time there, she focused her studies in criminal law and procedure under the guidance of practicing public defenders and district attorneys in New York and New Jersey. While attending school, she also served as President of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, Secretary of the Student Bar Association, Secretary of the Public Interest Coalition and remained an active member of the American Civil Liberties Union. Additionally, she received the Government Fellowship Award in 2005 and 2006 for her work in the public interest sector.
While in college, Ms. Welch clerked for the Law Office of Jay B. Myerson and the firm of Phillips, Beckwith, Hall & Chase. During law school, she gained hands-on criminal defense experience by clerking for the Honorable Rosemarie Annunziata, of the Virginia Court of Appeals, and the Honorable Robert W. Wooldridge, Jr., of the Fairfax County Circuit Court. She also clerked at the King’s County District Attorney’s Office and the Fairfax County Public Defender’s Office, where she represented clients on a variety of cases and assisted senior attorneys with pre-trial investigations, trial preparation and strategy and appeals.
Ms. Welch is licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and all courts throughout the state of Virginia. She is well respected member of the Virginia Bar Association, Fairfax County Bar Association and Prince William County Bar Association. She is also an active member of the Northern Virginia, Prince William County and Loudoun County chapters of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association.
